Corporate History

Dec. 1972 Founded as NEC Mobile Radio Service, Ltd. with 20 million yen capital, for manufacturing, sales and maintenance services of mobile and other communications systems.
Begins repair and maintenance services for pagers.
Begins maintenance services for train radio systems.
May. 1973 Begins system integration and maintenance services for mobile communications base stations including on-site installation and tuning of base station systems.
Jun. 1973 Begins selling mobile and other communications equipment and systems.
Dec. 1979 Begins maintenance services for car phones in the Tokyo area.
Jun. 1981 Begins to develop software for mobile communications equipment and systems.
Mar. 1982 Obtains general license for telecommunications installation work from the Ministry of Construction.
May. 1987 Moves head office to Kohoku-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Apr. 1990 Changes its name to NEC Mobile Communications, Ltd.
Apr. 1992 Enters into distributorship agreement with current NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and begins selling mobile phones and other related items.
Nov. 1992 Opens Nishi-Ikebukuro Store in Toshima-ku, Tokyo and begins retailing mobile phones and other related items at store.
Mar. 1994 Establishes retailing network for mobile phones and other related items in nine regions spanning the country.
Oct. 1994 Obtains ISO 9001 certification, an international standard of quality control system.
Jan. 2000 Obtains ISO 14001 certification, an international standard on environmental management system.
Jul. 2001 Changes its name to NEC Mobiling, Ltd.
Feb. 2002 Listed shares on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Mar. 2003 Lists shares on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Jun. 2003 Takes over mobile phone sales business from NEC CustomMax, Ltd.
Apr. 2004 Establishes Shanghai Mobiling, Ltd. in Shanghai, The People's Republic of China.
Feb. 2005 Obtains Privacy Mark Certification, the Japanese Industrial Standard for management systems of personal information.
Apr. 2006 Transfers Mobile Software Business to NEC Communication Systems, Ltd.
Apr. 2007 Transfers private mobile radio related business to NEC Network and Sensor Systems, Ltd.
Mar. 2010 Acquires all stocks of Matsuhaya Corporation and operates it as a subsidiary company.
